Description: This advanced-level continuing education course is designed to enhance the knowledge and field competency of journeymen HVAC technicians and pipefitters working with modern commercial boiler systems. Delivered in partnership with LAARS Boilers, the course focuses on condensing and non-condensing boiler technology, volume water heaters, hydronic system design, and combustion optimization. 

Building upon ARPEC’s in-house hydronic training initiative and the iConnect boiler training platform, this course integrates manufacturer-specific expertise with real-world applications. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of system piping, venting strategies, control programming, and combustion setup while utilizing simulators and digital tools to replicate field conditions. 

This training directly supports contractor needs in retrofit, service, and new installation markets, aligning classroom instruction with on-the-job demands and improving technician performance, safety, and system efficiency.

Objectives: Upon completion of this class, students will: 

  • Understand Boiler Systems & Design – Identify boiler types, hydronic components, and proper piping practices.
  • Develop Programming & Control Skills – Navigate controls, set parameters, and apply system logic for operation.
  • Apply Combustion Principles – Perform setup, optimize efficiency, and recognize unsafe or inefficient conditions.
  • Ensure Venting & Safety Compliance – Implement proper venting, prevent hazards, and follow code requirements.
  • Strengthen Diagnostics & Troubleshooting – Identify faults and apply structured methods to improve service efficiency.

Registration closes: Wednesday, June 3, 2026, or upon reaching max class size of 18.

Attendance Policy: You are required to attend each course in its entirety. You will receive your certificate and credit upon successful completion of the course.

No-Show/Cancellations Policy: Please be aware that cancellations made less than two days before the class begins, or failure to attend, will result in a $50.00 fee. All cancellations must be submitted via email to ceu@arpec.org.

Continuing education: Participants who attend each course in its entirety will receive a certificate and continuing education credits.

Continuing Education Units: 8 hours

  • Registration is open exclusively to employers, who may register their Local 725 Journeyman.
  • All participants must be on referral from Local 725.
  • Employers who register participants who cancel after June 3, are no-shows, or do not attend the class in its entirety, will be required to pay the $50.00 No-show class fee.
  • Because this training is held during normal business hours, Employers will be required to pay wages, however, fringes are not required, subject to the terms of the CBA.

YOUR SAFETY:

Dress code: For your own protection, participants are required to wear:

  • Closed-toe shoes: Sandals or open-toe shoes are not permitted.
  • Long pants: Shorts are not allowed.
  • Long-sleeved shirts: Short sleeved shirts are not permitted.

Failure to comply will result in being removed from class.
