Refrigeration: Rack Refrigeration

Description: This course provides intermediate training appropriate for those who have some experience working with refrigeration. Concepts covered apply to refrigeration systems used in both warehouses and supermarkets. Students will gain a clear understanding of various system components as well as parallel refrigeration systems’ control sequences. After completing this class, technicians should feel confident identifying and troubleshooting issues in the field. Students will have the opportunity to practice handling a variety of troubleshooting scenarios using contemporary refrigeration equipment including rack systems and walk-in coolers during shop time. 

Objectives: Upon completion of this class, students will: 

  • Understand refrigeration system components.
  • Be knowledgeable of parallel refrigeration systems’ control sequences.
  • Confidently troubleshoot refrigeration system controls issues.
  • Understand refrigeration cycle mode operations.

Prerequisite skills: Foundational knowledge of refrigeration. 

Prerequisite classes: Refrigeration: Introduction to Principles and Service Guidelines.

Registration closes: Friday, November 28, 2025, or upon reaching max class size of 15.

Attendance Policy: You are required to attend each course in its entirety. You will receive your certificate and credit upon successful completion of the course.

No-Show/Cancellations Policy: Please be aware that cancellations made less than two days before the class begins, or failure to attend, will result in a $50.00 fee. All cancellations must be submitted via email to ceu@arpec.org

Continuing education: Participants who attend each course in its entirety will receive a certificate and continuing education credits.

Continuing Education Units: 16 hours

YOUR SAFETY:

Dress code: For your own protection, participants are required to wear:

  • Closed-toe shoes: Sandals or open-toe shoes are not permitted.
  • Long pants: Shorts are not allowed.
  • Long-sleeved shirts: Short sleeved shirts are not permitted.

PPE: Bring the following and wear them at all times in the shop or when working with your hands.

  • Safety glasses, and work gloves.
  • Plus any additional safety-related PPE or equipment provided onsite, as directed by your instructor.

Failure to comply will result in being removed from class.


Pricing

ARPEC’s training, funded via the labor contract’s hourly contribution, requires no registration fee or deposit. However, if you cancel within two days before the start of the class, or do not attend the class in full, you will be charged $50.00. If that occurs, that invoice must be paid in full before you can register for future classes. As an employee benefit trust, ARPEC is legally required to be a good steward of the trust's assets.
