Purpose of the Entrance Examinations

Strong English comprehension and mathematics skills are essential for success in the HVAC/R and pipefitting trades. These foundational abilities allow apprentices to:

• Read and understand technical manuals, safety guidelines, and training materials.
• Perform accurate calculations for system design, load sizing, and troubleshooting.
• Communicate effectively with instructors, coworkers, and supervisors on the job.

While ARPEC provides thorough technical training, having a solid foundation in English and math (including basic geometry) enables students to learn faster, work safely, and progress more successfully throughout the program.

Minimum required scores

To remain eligible to advance in the admissions process, applicants must achieve the following scores:  

•    Mathematics Exam: 750 or higher 
•    English Comprehension Exam: 650 or higher

We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to select the date and time that works best for you. This allows each applicant to choose a testing slot that fits their personal schedule. Test sessions are first-come, first-served, so we encourage you to secure your preferred time at your earliest convenience.
