Description: This class provides an introduction to best practices related to safe handling of the low Global Warming Potential (GWP) and A2L subgroup of refrigerants, which are a class of refrigerants that have lower toxicity and flammability. Students will learn about the combustion and thermal decomposition of these new refrigerants as well as proper installation practices for HVACR equipment that require low GWP refrigerants and A2L refrigerants. This class includes both classroom instruction and shop application of concepts learned.
Objectives: Upon completion of this class, students will:
Prerequisite skills: Foundational knowledge of HVAC.

Registration closes: Friday, May 14, 2025, or upon reaching max class size of 20. Attendance Policy: You are required to attend each course in its entirety. You will receive your certificate and credit upon successful completion of the course. Textbook Purchase Policy: Purchase of the Low GWP Refrigerant Safety book is required to attend the class. Failure to purchase the textbook will result in the cancellation of your class registration. No-Show/Cancellations Policy: Please be aware that cancellations made less than two days before the class begins, or failure to attend, will result in a $50.00 fee. ARPEC’s training, funded via the labor contract’s hourly contribution, requires no registration fee or deposit. However, if you cancel within two days before the start of the class, or do not attend the class in full, you will be charged $50.00.
