Safety: HVAC Safety Basics

Description: This course covers individuals working in the HVAC field will encounter high voltage electricity, combustible gases, metal fabrication, and ladders. This course covers HVAC best practices and procedures on fire safety, personal protective equipment, ladder usage, electrical circuits, and shock risk, as well as Lockout/Tagout procedures. 

Objectives: Upon completion of this class, students will: 

  • Basic Fire Safety: Class A, Class B, Class C fires and fire extinguishing agents. 
  • The protective equipment that should be worn when handling chemicals and liquid refrigerant. 
  • The proper set up and usage of a ladder. 
  • The safest way to store and transport compressed gas cylinders. 
  • The risk of shock from electrical units and tools. 
  • Lockout/Tagout safety procedures. Learn best practices for preventing distracted driving.

Registration closes: Wednesday, June 18, 2025, or upon reaching max class size of 10.

Attendance Policy: Registrants will receive login information on Monday, June 23, 2025, and will have until Friday, June 27, 2025, to complete the class. Registrants will be required to complete the module to receive credit.

No-Show/Cancellations Policy: Please be aware that cancellations made less than two days before the class begins, or failure to attend, will result in a $50.00 fee. All cancellations must be submitted via email to ceu@arpec.org

Continuing education: Participants who attend each course in its entirety will receive a certificate and continuing education credits.

Pricing

ARPEC’s training, funded via the labor contract’s hourly contribution, requires no registration fee or deposit. However, if you cancel within two days before the start of the class, or do not attend the class in full, you will be charged $50.00. If that occurs, that invoice must be paid in full before you can register for future classes. As an employee benefit trust, ARPEC is legally required to be a good steward of the trust's assets.
