Description: This class prepares students to successfully pass the Broward or Miami-Dade County Licensure Exam.
Each ARPEC apprentice is required to graduate and become a Local 725 Journeyman. This long-standing requirement ensures that all who graduate from ARPEC have obtained sufficient training consistent with the Journeyman licensure exam.
Those who completed all 5 years of the ARPEC apprenticeship program but did not obtain their license may not be referred out as Journeymen and are instead "held in category" and their employer is required to pay them 5th year apprentice wages and benefits. Those who are working as "held in category" are invited to participate in this preparatory class and are encouraged to obtain their license and earn Local 725 Journeyman status.
Additionally, newly-unionized Employees who did not complete the apprenticeship program are encouraged to participate and obtain their license and earn Local 725 Journeyman status.
This preparatory course is offered multiple times throughout the year to help prepare current apprentices, former apprentices held in category, and newly unionized employees obtain their Journeyman license.
Objectives: Upon completion of this class, students will:
- Be Knowledgeable of the Journeyman license application process.
- Know how to appropriately study to successfully pass the county-issued Journeyman Licensure Exam.
Prerequisite skills: Three years of work experience in the trade.

Registration closes: Friday, July 4, 2025, or upon reaching max class size of 20. Attendance Policy: You are required to attend each course in its entirety. You will receive your certificate and credit upon successful completion of the course. Textbook Purchase Policy: Purchase of the Low GWP Refrigerant Safety book is required to attend the class. Failure to purchase the textbook will result in the cancellation of your class registration. No-Show/Cancellations Policy: Please be aware that cancellations made less than two days before the class begins, or failure to attend, will result in a $50.00 fee. All cancellations must be submitted via email to ceu@arpec.org. Continuing education: Participants who attend each course in its entirety will receive a certificate and continuing education credits. Failure to comply will result in being removed from class. |
ARPEC’s training, funded via the labor contract’s hourly contribution, requires no registration fee or deposit. However, if you cancel within two days before the start of the class, or do not attend the class in full, you will be charged $50.00. If that occurs, that invoice must be paid in full before you can register for future classes. As an employee benefit trust, ARPEC is legally required to be a good steward of the trust's assets.
