Chillers: Advanced Chilled Water Systems Design:

Description: This course provides advanced training appropriate for those who have some experience servicing chilled water systems in commercial applications. The course will explore both constant flow and variable flow water systems as well as the conversion from constant flow to variable flow systems. Additionally, low flow chillers and an in-depth case study of an existing chilled water system will be presented. Students will have the opportunity to practice troubleshooting scenarios during shop time

Objectives: Upon completion of this class, students will: 

  • Recall concepts from the Introduction to Chilled Water System design class.
  • Identify chilled water system components.
  • Differentiate between different chilled water design systems.
  • Explain chiller and pump sequence.
  • Identify proper operating set points.
  • Understand the design and function of chilled water systems.
  • Be able to troubleshoot various chilled water flow issues.
  • Review various case studies and recommend corrective action for issues found in the case studies.

Prerequisite skills: Foundational knowledge of chilled water systems.

Prerequisite classes: Chillers: Introduction to Chilled Water Systems Design.

Related Classes: n/a 

Registration closes: Friday, February 27, 2026, or upon reaching max class size of 10.

Attendance Policy: You are required to attend each course in its entirety. You will receive your certificate and credit upon successful completion of the course.

No-Show/Cancellations Policy: Please be aware that cancellations made less than two days before the class begins, or failure to attend, will result in a $50.00 fee. All cancellations must be submitted via email to ceu@arpec.org

Continuing education: Participants who attend each course in its entirety will receive a certificate and continuing education credits.

YOUR SAFETY:

Dress code: For your own protection, participants are required to wear:

  • Closed-toe shoes: Sandals or open-toe shoes are not permitted.
  • Long pants: Shorts are not allowed.
  • Long-sleeved shirts: Short sleeved shirts are not permitted.

PPE: Bring the following and wear them at all times in the shop or when working with your hands.

  • Safety glasses, and work gloves.
  • Plus any additional safety-related PPE or equipment provided onsite, as directed by your instructor.

Failure to comply will result in being removed from class.


Pricing

ARPEC’s training, funded via the labor contract’s hourly contribution, requires no registration fee or deposit. However, if you cancel within two days before the start of the class, or do not attend the class in full, you will be charged $50.00. If that occurs, that invoice must be paid in full before you can register for future classes. As an employee benefit trust, ARPEC is legally required to be a good steward of the trust's assets.
