Controls Systems: Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Maintenance

Instructor: Skill Mill Instructor

CEU Hours: 4 (1 module)

Eligible for County Journeyman License continuing education? No

Description: Variable frequency drives (VFD) effectively save energy and costs, but only if they’re well-maintained. In Variable Frequency Drive Maintenance, we’ll put into practice your knowledge of VFDs and your preventative maintenance skills. You’ll get an overview of preventative maintenance activities for VFDs, including their value for safety, efficiency, and continuous operation. Using interactive simulations with instant feedback, you’ll first apply safety procedures to ensure electrical safety during VFD maintenance. You’ll then perform several preventative maintenance inspections on a VFD in an industrial warehouse. You’ll practice evaluating the health of the VFD safely with virtual tools.

Objectives: Upon completion of this class, students will:

  • Learn how to provide preventative maintenance for VFDs
  • Explain and apply safety procedures for VFD maintenance work
  • Learn how to perform common VFD preventative maintenance inspections
  • Identify and safely use appropriate tools for VFD maintenance work
