Description

Hydronic Heating Fundamentals-From Chilled Water to Hot Water

Instructor: Joey Henderson- North Park Innovation Trainer

CEU Hours: 8 hours

Eligible for County Journeyman License continuing education? No

Description: This one-day introductory course covers hydronic heating fundamentals, including heat transfer, chilled water and heating system operation, gas combustion, boiler ignition sequences, flame sensing, and safety controls. The iConnect TU-210G Hydronic Heating Training Unit will be used for hands-on training in system startup, interpreting boiler status codes, checking gas pressures and flame signals, and tracing heat delivery through pumps, piping, and terminal devices.

Objectives: Upon completion of this class, students will:

  • Explain heat transfer and how it connects the refrigeration cycle, chilled water cooling, and hydronic heating as one set of principles.
  • Describe how the trainer's gas-fired boiler operates: the intermittent pilot ignition sequence, flame sensing, and its safety controls (low water cutoff, high limit, blocked vent switch, flame rollout switch, vent damper).
  • Start up and operate the TU-210G hydronic heating system, and identify how heat is delivered through each type of terminal unit.
