Description: This workshop will focus on the critical role Journeyman play in the growth and development of their team members. Critical training and skill transfer happens on the job, and this course will explore the need for Journeyman to be an educator in the field to apprentices and teammates. The group will gain a new perspective about the Journeyman/apprentice relationship and understand the value of this relationship to the project and the organization. Participants will practice identifying development levels and applying the right coaching and mentoring approaches to build both skill level and confidence.

Objectives: Upon completion of this class, students will: 

  • Know the important role Journeyman play in Apprentice skill and confidence development.
  • Learn how to engage and transfer knowledge through a variety of learning styles and approaches.
  • Have the skills to be an effective coach and mentor to apprentices at any level.
  • Build effective relationships with your field teams and get the best out of those around you.

Related Classes: All Personal and Professional Development series classes. 

Registration closes: Wednesday, May 15, 2026, or upon reaching max class size of 15.

Attendance Policy: You are required to attend each course in its entirety. You will receive your certificate and credit upon successful completion of the course.

No-Show/Cancellations Policy: Please be aware that cancellations made less than two days before the class begins, or failure to attend, will result in a $50.00 fee. All cancellations must be submitted via email to ceu@arpec.org

Continuing education: Participants who attend each course in its entirety will receive a certificate and continuing education credits.

Dress code: For your own protection, participants are required to wear:

  • Closed-toe shoes: Sandals or open-toe shoes are not permitted.
  • Long pants: Shorts are not allowed.
  • Long-sleeved shirts: Short sleeved shirts are not permitted.

Failure to comply will result in being removed from class.


Pricing

ARPEC’s training, funded via the labor contract’s hourly contribution, requires no registration fee or deposit. However, if you cancel within two days before the start of the class, or do not attend the class in full, you will be charged $50.00. If that occurs, that invoice must be paid in full before you can register for future classes. As an employee benefit trust, ARPEC is legally required to be a good steward of the trust's assets.
