Description: VitalCog in Construction training is part of a suite of offerings from Helen and Arthur E.Johnson Depression Center that trains workers at all levels of the industry to appreciate the critical need for suicide prevention, foster open conversations, and promote resources in construction. Also to cultivate a community of workers who aspire to eliminate the devastating impact of suicide.

Objectives: Upon completion of this class, students will: 

  • Reduce stigma and raise awareness around mental health and suicide prevention.
  • Promote open dialogue around mental health.
  • Attendees will participate in encouraging help-seeking and help-giving behaviors through team dialogue.
  • Attendees will also participate in group activities practicing the risk factor assessment skills learned in class.

Registration closes: Monday, June 22, 2026, or upon reaching max class size of 20.

Attendance Policy: You are required to attend each course in its entirety. You will receive your certificate and credit upon successful completion of the course.

No-Show/Cancellations Policy: Please be aware that cancellations made less than two days before the class begins, or failure to attend, will result in a $50.00 fee. All cancellations must be submitted via email to ceu@arpec.org

Continuing education: Participants who attend each course in its entirety will receive a certificate and continuing education credits.

YOUR SAFETY:

Dress code: For your own protection, participants are required to wear:

  • Closed-toe shoes: Sandals or open-toe shoes are not permitted.
  • Long pants: Shorts are not allowed.
  • Long-sleeved shirts: Short sleeved shirts are not permitted.

PPE: Bring the following and wear them at all times in the shop or when working with your hands.

  • Safety glasses, and work gloves.
  • Plus any additional safety-related PPE or equipment provided onsite, as directed by your instructor.

Failure to comply will result in being removed from class, and forfeiture of your class deposit.


Pricing

ARPEC’s training, funded via the labor contract’s hourly contribution, requires no registration fee or deposit. However, if you cancel within two days before the start of the class, or do not attend the class in full, you will be charged $50.00. If that occurs, that invoice must be paid in full before you can register for future classes. As an employee benefit trust, ARPEC is legally required to be a good steward of the trust's assets.
