Welding: Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) and Arc Welding

Instructor: Kishon Dryden, Local 725 Journeyman 

CEU Hours: 8 hours

Description: This class provides an introduction to TIG welding including how to assemble a TIG torch, and how to operate the torch in conjunction with the welding machine. Students completing this class will become comfortable using a torch and welding machine on their own. Each student will have access to a TIG machine and will practice assembling the torch, prepping their materials, and welding on pipe. Students will have the opportunity to practice operating the machine and selecting the appropriate gas and welding rod during shop time. 

Objectives: Upon completion of this class, students will: 

  • Be familiar with the fundamentals of Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding.
  • Be familiar with welding rods, gas, and gas assembly.
  • Know how to assemble the torch and operate the welding machine.
  • Have experience practicing TIG welding in shop environment.

Prerequisite skills: Advanced welding skills

Registration closes: Wednesday, March 11, 2026, or upon reaching max class size of 10.

Attendance Policy: You are required to attend each course in its entirety. You will receive your certificate and credit upon successful completion of the course.

No-Show/Cancellations Policy: Please be aware that cancellations made less than two days before the class begins, or failure to attend, will result in a $50.00 fee. All cancellations must be submitted via email to ceu@arpec.org

Continuing education: Participants who attend each course in its entirety will receive a certificate and continuing education credits.

Continuing Education Units: 8 hours

YOUR SAFETY:

Dress code: For your own protection, participants are required to wear:

  • Closed-toe shoes: Sandals or open-toe shoes are not permitted.
  • Long pants: Shorts are not allowed.
  • Long-sleeved shirts: Short sleeved shirts are not permitted.

PPE: Bring the following and wear them at all times in the shop or when working with your hands.

  • Safety glasses, and work gloves.
  • Plus any additional safety-related PPE or equipment provided onsite, as directed by your instructor.

Failure to comply will result in being removed from class.


Pricing

ARPEC’s training, funded via the labor contract’s hourly contribution, requires no registration fee or deposit. However, if you cancel within two days before the start of the class, or do not attend the class in full, you will be charged $50.00. If that occurs, that invoice must be paid in full before you can register for future classes. As an employee benefit trust, ARPEC is legally required to be a good steward of the trust's assets.
